Since he went from Google to Microsoft, I take his “Facebook won the Social war” comments with a grain of salt. His insider take on Google’s new focus rings true, though. 

Over the next few years, I hope to see more small companies developing paid stand-alone alternatives to Google’s non-core products (like Docs and Gmail), essentially carrying forward Google’s research into a more sustainable business model.
